On Monday we started our final conference in Bregenz with a look at our Regional Council, the Vorarlberg Thing. It was
followed by an architectural tour with the topics: sustainable materials, renewable energy, natural building
materials, new and old school buildings and preservation of old architecture. This tour and the feedback about
the very succesful theatre performance project which was satisfactory for both students and teachers led to
the big eruption of the Islandic volcano. This event made us create a new concept for the next project, in
The conference progressed towards well-preserved wood works in the St. Gall library in Switzerland as well as
old books - something teachers cannot resist! We also admired the acoustics at the Liechtenstein Thing; some
teachers climbed the hill to the Castle, some discussed about the flight home.
In fact, the Austrians had to wave most of the participants back into an unsure future because the airports
started to close down. Whereas most of the participants have made it back to their home countries, the
Icelandic group is still grounded in Berlin - an unforgettable experience!
