We thank you all for these wonderful days in Bregenz. The organizing of the meetings by the Austrians was splendid - well, maybe we could have used a few more
pauses for coffe drinking! We surely hope that there will be a new Comenius-project with this group as it simply makes such a really strong team! And thank you for all your hospitality.
After leaving Bregenz the trip to Iceland was something of an adventure. We went to Memmingen with our students by bus early friday morning. The airport was closed so we had to stay in a guest-house for one night. - We must say that Memmingen is not quite as boring and small place as perhaps to expect. But living here in Akranes we are used to small and perhaps boring places, so in a way we felt at home there! On Saturday we decided to hire two cars and drive to Berlin. That was cheaper than travelling by train and besides all the trains seemed overbooked and no cars left to rent except in a deserted place like the airport of Memmingen, where all the staff was so happy to see some people!
We arrived in Berlin at 22.30 in Saturday evening and got rooms in an AO hostel just by Ostbahnhof. There we stayed for five nights and had a pleasant stay in the old preussian capital, learning to eat curry wurst and visiting the Bundestag. On wednesday we finally managed to fly to Iceland. The students were very happy with this trip, although some were worried about the school. It was a rainy and rather cold night in Iceland when we arrived - and we did not see the volcano.
